Baseball Owners are batty about unauthorized financial disclosures. It hurts Baseball, they think, to let fans known that the Pittsburgh Pirate owners are making money hand over fist with a depleted ballclub that loses, loses, loses on the field. Fingers point not to the Wrigley outfield (with apologies to the Bambino), but to D&O Liability Insurance Carriers as stealing the signals of Owners' finances. See Richard Sandomir, "Insurance Companies Focus of Investigation" p. B11, col. 1 (New York Times Nat'l ed., Wed., August 21, 2010).
Say it ain't so, D&O!
